Learning Environment

Honeybee Preschool

As our centre philosophy stresses the importance of play, educators at Honeybee Preschool ensure all of our learning environment support this. Educators take the time to plan and prepare aesthetically pleasing learning environments that foster creative and critical thinking.

All of our learning environments facilitate play based learning ensuring children have an opportunity to transfer and adapt what they have learned from one context to another (EYLF outcome four). Brain research supports this  stressing that children learn best through an integrated approach combining physical , emotional , cognitive and social growth (Shore, 1997)

Honeybee Preschool

Honeybee Preschool creates a sense of Belonging for all children through the provision of resources that broaden children's perspectives and encourage appreciation of diversity. Children are important stakeholders in our curriculum decision making process. Children's interests form the foundation of our play based programme and as can be seen here their voice is heard loudly in the planning and documenting of all activities.

Our learning environments, enable children to explore ideas and theories, question, hypothosise and predict . By providing aesthetically pleasing environments, children's learning disposition of creative and critical thinking is stimulated and collaborative play is promoted.

Honeybee Preschool

Socio dramatic play is a very important part of early childhood. We promote this play both indoors and outdoors at Honeybee Preschool, using both commercial and natural materials. As can be seen in this photo the children have set up a tea party for their babies, using wooden stumps that resemble tea cups and tea pots.
